In todays lesson we were cast for our contemporary piece and as the class is too big we had to be split into 2 groups. I was cast as Rose from A Handbag. My first thoughts of being cast as Rose was that I believed that she would be a hard character to play as she needs to seem like she is normal but at the same time have a lot of depth to the character. I also thought that A Handbag as a whole will be hard as there are no scene changes and it is all set in the same plain room so we need to be creative so out audience stay captivated when they are watching. So I thought we need to make sure that each bit of the script suits the right theme that it is going for whether it is comedy or thrill. I want to play Rose as a very Innocent girl however when it comes to her past she is very sinister in how she says her line. I also want the audience to understand Rose and every movement she does will be understood.
After this we did a read through of the script to understand what is going on and this gave me great incite into the play.
